Who is Spike Humer?

THE JOINT VENTURE

Or JV as they are often known, occur when two different parties come together to create a new entity for their mutual benefit. While differing slightly, the term JV has come to be used interchangeably with Strategic Alliance, especially on the internet.

DEFINITION (Wikipedia)

"A joint venture (often abbreviated JV) is an entity formed between two or more parties to undertake economic activity together. The parties agree to create a new entity by both contributing equity, and they then share in the revenues, expenses, and control of the enterprise.

STRATEGIC ALLIANCE

What most people refer to on the internet as a JV is often a strategic alliance, where both parties bring their own independant resources to the opportunity.

"A strategic alliance, which involves no equity stake by the participants, and is a much less rigid arrangement. Partners may provide the strategic alliance with resources such as products, distribution channels, manufacturing capability, project funding, capital equipment, knowledge, expertise, or intellectual property."

INTERNET MARKETING JVs

Dozens of internet marketers, many who would say that the're just ordinary guys, have made itwith the JV. Names such as Mark Joyner, Russell Brunson, Marc Goldman, Mike Filsaime, Stephen Pierce. If you haven't heard of them -- try Googling them.

The arrangements made between themselves is nearly always an arrangement that is much closer to the definition of a strategic alliance, but it almost always called a JV, as no third entity is formed.

In many respects many online affiliate marketers can be seen as a form of Joint Venturing. One party provides the goods -- usually a program or information. The other party provides a large mailing lists and receives a commission or a share of the profits. Normally you would need a large list to be invited into a JV, and again, in almost every situation,  no new entity is formed, but it is is almost always referred to as a JV.

REAL LIFE JOINT VENTURES

Major Corporations also form Joint Ventures and Strategic Alliances. Cingular is in a Strategic Aliance with SBS and Bellsouth.
